well, another intense day up in CW.
david's space is really starting to get there, i hadn't entered it for the last few days and i was so happy to see it taking final shape. i can't wait until is finished and david starts doing all the beautiful projects that his got in mind.
earthwise made a start on their partition and by looking at the great job they did on the back door i'm sure it's going to be really nice. ben was (again) really helpful as we could order cheaper and (philosophically) better materials thanks to his knowledge and generosity. we even used his account to order and get a fast delivery. that means that tomorrow the pit will be converted into storage space / floor.
(tree) david finally finished his piece and had a visit from the client that went well. david has been working with glass for more than a decade, when he mentioned it i thought he could do amazing hybrids (glass and wood) home-scale models of his work and sell them. also bonsai versions of them... see if he doesn't dismiss my comment as perhaps i sounded overenthusiastic...
we all moved his tree so the dance floor can be tried out when it arrives (we have bought it !) and agreed on that we should clear the whole space and take a nice picture with the tree there (the first big scale project that happened on site)
nigel and ana had a meeting about the performance studio and then joined me, cesar and clare with preparing the finishing-the-floor-operation (thanks to extra nice john -neighbour- that lent us some tools that were missing). now that all the previous work is starting to get more uniform in terms of colour the space looks bigger, nicer, the light has truly changed in there (our new floor acts as a massive reflector panel that many photographers would envy) and has boosted everyone's stamina i think. it's beautiful being in there and watching everyone's faces.
ian came round for a bit and spoke to graeme and nigel (who by the way, luckily turned down a job offer today that would have kept him too busy for us to enjoy his support). warren came down for a bit and also alex2 came to check all the progress being made on his way back from stanmer park (i really want to go up to the allotment with him and check that project out and give him some help, also we should convince him to get involved with the kitchen / bar somehow, he is by far the best cook i know).
antonio is now here with us (ana, cesar, nigel and myself), catching up with all that's been happening. he was told that his knee should heal in a few weeks, shame as he'll miss quite a few exciting performances he was going to be involved with. good news is that he has already bought his new camera (it's a beast) and is already looking into getting his editing suite equipment ready. this means that he'll be back up in CW sooner than i thought.
ana's idea about inviting people from the public to the space by the end of april is also starting to take shape. it will happen on the 21st of april (tuesday) and the idea is that everyone should not only invite friends (they should all come of course), but also anyone potentially having an interest in all the things we all do. in our specific case (echo sound design) i told warren and cesar that we should invite all the brighton based media companies that we can find as we could show them our studio and explain the services that we offer and convince them to make good use of them (professional, endless dedication at affordable prices ?? yes !)
is there anything else that one could ask for ?
