Theme: Mono.

Monologue, monotone, monolith, monogram, monobrow... A good dose of monomania will make this Stray Signals a monomental occasion.

Bring your own take on the theme, read, listen, enjoy the friendly atmosphere.

Stray Signals no. 10

Tues 7th Sept 2010 ... 8pm start ... £3 entry

Circles.

Plots that come full circle, poems that tie beginning to end, bodies that move in circles. Bring your own take on the theme, perform, listen, form a circle.

Circular inspiration: Julia Copus' poem 'The Backseat of My Mother's Car', Italo Calvino's fable 'The Man Who Shouted Teresa', Jorge Luis Borges' fiction 'The Circular Ruins', Ian Hamilton Finlay's mandalas.

Stray Signals no. 9

Tues 3rd Aug 2010, 8pm start, £3 entry

Optional theme/activity: Arguments
An argument might take place between two or more people, or as a personal monologue. It could involve objects, animals or forces that can't argue back. You may have a point your dying to argue to the rest of the audience. Arguments are often fun, cathartic, and aren't always aggressive. Arguably.

Stray Signals no. 8

This month's optional theme/activity is 'from memory'. We'd like the majority of works performed to be committed to memory rather than read from the page. It could be a story, poem, a joke, a personal anecdote, or whatever you can remember...

Stray Signals is a monthly poetry, storytelling and performance event aiming to provide a platform for creatives to showcase experimental new works in any format or media. Half curated/half open programme, the focus is on fostering an atmosphere for creating original material, having fun, and testing things out. We also run various workshops in art and creative writing. See www.straysignals.co.uk/ for more information.

Spring Clean, then Stray Signals 02.03.2010

A really productive day was spent clearing up after the winter hibernation had caused a bit of a pile up. Alex rented a van and we sorted out the front yard and some of us later on waded into the back yard too. Then we had a big fire.

Later on there was Stray Signals with lovely music by Michael Mclinn check out the Stray Signals site here for upcoming stuff.

Stray Signals 01

The first Stray Signals took place in front of the still-to-be-finished bread oven. As the year progresses, so will the warmth available to performers! The night is a half-curated, half-open big mix up of poetry, performance, music, food and everything inbetween.
