Knitty Gritty Beginners Knitting Classes
starting Thursday November 17th. 12-2pm. £30 for 4weeks.

Four weeks of tuition learning to cast on & off, garter stitch(plain), stocking stitch(purl), combinations of these to create textured stitches,simple increasing & decreasing. This four week course will enable you to learn all the basics you need to create a vast array of simple projects for yourself and family. Make with your young ones after school and choose from a selection of beautiful willow decorations to create together. £3 biscuits & hot choc supplied.

Wreath and Lantern Making
Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December

  •  Make wreaths out of willow and decorate with locally foraged foliage. £5
  •  Buy a lantern or make your own for the Christmas carols in Blakers Park on Friday the 16th Dec @ 6pm. from £3

Spoon Carving Workshops - Coachwerks Winter Fair

£10 per person. Advance bookings only.


Learn safe and efficient use of simple hand tools to create your own wooden spoons and spatulas.
Starting with freshly cut 'green' wood you will be guided through various carving techniques using saws, hatchets, whittling (carving) knives and spoon knives to create one or more items to take away with you.

No previous experience required, all tools and materials provided. Ages 12 and above. Under sixteens must be accompanied by an adult guardian.

Get crafty at Coachwerks this autumn with ‘KNITTY GRITTY’ knitting classes and drop-in. Get knitting for Christmas!

Beginners
Starts Thursday 6th October for 4 weeks. 12-2pm or 6-8pm.

Learn to cast on, garter stitch & stocking stitch (knit and purl), combine these stitches for textural effect, Simple trouble-shooting, increasing & decreasing, casting off. During the final week, you can get started on a personal project.

Accurately follow a pattern & interpret knitting terminology. An introduction to simple shaping methods. create textured patterns (eg: blackberry stitch, bobbles). Use a cable needle to create cables & twists.

22 & 22.10.11 Yuri Landman - Build Your Own Instrument

On the 22nd of October 2011, Coachwerks is hosting two unique workshops led by radical instrument builder, Yuri Landman. In four hours you can build your own electric string instrument. In the afternoon you can build the Home Swinger, follwed by the White Eagle in the evening. These workshops require no special skills.
The following day will consist of performances from the workshop participants, with support from local musicians and instrumentalists.

Coachwerks has received a lovely lick o' paint, so we're havin' a knees-up to celebrate. And we'd like you to come. To the party.

There will be:
  • Chrysalises by Jo Dimbleby, who is finishing her residency
  • Giant Lego Robots by James Johnson-Perkins
  • Nosh in the form of a gorgeous BBQ prepared in our spanking new kitchen
  • Music from The Brighton Brass Ensemble, Monty and the Puma Fruits, Gminor and other friends. If you bring an instrument, you can join in the impro jam later.
  • Then really later we're having a disco with DJ Fluff, DJJJP & the BASAnaughts, who will be awarding a special "space themed" prize for the most influential and courteous dancing.
As we've all been busy with d.i.y, the dress code is "work wear". The best costume will receive a large bag of powdered tile adhesive.
