20.03.09 - MP visitation

hello hello

there are so many good things that happened today:

the MP + school + neighbours came round in the morning and i think that david was happy about it. don't know the details though.

we had a late start on the floor again (this is the bit i take as the most important lesson) as we again failed on our planning skills. now that we have finished 98% of the floor i know that careful planning could have saved us lots of time and money. i guess the only way one can learn all this is by committing mistakes. i'm a big fan of errors, they're always doors to enter new and exciting ground that couldn't have been planned for, but on this specific case, it would have been nice not to work and spend more than what it was strictly needed. unfortunately we are far from that but now we know better.

extra nice nigel came again and he's considering giving ana a hand with the running of the performance space, that could be great, he is a real altruist and even though it might look like it sometimes, neither ana or me have more than one body or one life so help is always good.

cesar overslept today, but he was lucky that we had to go to get more cement in the morning so it all worked out without swearing (only joking). paul gave us a hand with some more preparation
and got nigel to wickes on another lift for more cement (yes, we run out twice today, unbelievable). ana helped everyone doing bits here and there and so alex1 did.

in the meantime, the owner of the cement mixer came to collect it and was actually really happy about the way it looked, so we've got a hollywood happy ending for this. this is really good news. i wasn't any comfortable with the fact that a generous man had felt he should have never trusted us.

david on super-early-bird mode had got to CW probably at about 7 in the morning and kept working on his space + separation doors. we do have separation doors now and they look great !!

a few hours later earthwisers ben and dan came and nearly finished the back door. it's so lovely that it has to be seen really. very much in the fashion i was imagining for the whole backyard space. nice wood and glass, the way forward. there's nothing as clear, simple, affordable and elegant in terms of materials as far as i know. only the work of david and earthsiwe alone is incalculable for what it does (and suggests) to the space.

by the end of the day a couple of guys involved in performance came round to check out the space as ana went to the fringe festival party yesterday night and handed lots around. they loved
it and will use it at some point after may. also marion, the girl that will be rehearsing throughout
april and performing in may came round with the guy that composes the music for her and they also got to know the space. also mandy came round wanting to give us a hand, unfortunately a bit late but she'll be back monday.

ian came a few times, he is happier and excited and that's good. he generally has to do many dirty jobs (unseen, tiring, demoralizing at times, static -as opposed to physical stuff) and i think we should all try and keep him busier down the site and try to find who he could delegate some tasks on to come and get some more action.

i think this is pretty much it. ah no, i forgot to mention that Yusuf (temporarily at the hermitage) made some really amazing coffee today, cleaned graeme's space and shared his big smile with us for some while.
