What?! revolves around the theme of errors in communication as new input for the creative process. This is a creative research project taking place at Coachwerks from 16th to 23rd May with a final public performance on 24th May. Nick Lawson, Aurore-Marie Facundo, Elizabeth Giles and Angharad Harrop will work collaboratively with South Korean choreographer Ji Park and under the direction of Ana Fernández. During the creative process the dancers will be encouraged to interpret movement according to their aural, visual and kinaesthetic information decoding preferences. “What?!” is a game. It has a playful quality that will thrive with every dancer’s perspective and understanding.

Lorna Duffy and Sofia Fernandez have been partners in crime for a couple of years bombarding the Brighton theatre scene under a few names, never performing the same show twice. They have taken their bizarre brain stories to the Southern Theatre Arts Centre, The Nightingale Theatre and The Basement. If you missed their surreal last years’ Fringe performance this is your opportunity to catch up.

Due to a Fado song she likes, French Elise has chosen troubled Portuguese Mariana as her companion to share a tiny flat. Trustful Elise embraces Mariana's despair. Respectively sustained and betrayed by their aspirations, they both suffer from their unlikely friendship until Paula moves in.
Marion Deprez graduated at the School of Physical theatre, Three Mills End, London, 2007. She has worked as assistant director for Tamasha's production, Lyrical MC. Her first piece (“How do you spell it?” Fringe 2008), a cross between a home-made ballet and a 1920's thriller dealt with obsessive compulsive disorder and manic depression. It did make people shredder and laugh in 35 minutes.

Ty Jeffries, “Dusk in the Luxembourg Gardens” mixed by Coachwerks

This ambient installation-based performance piece centres on original solo piano music composed by Ty Jeffries. Incorporating image projections, sound design, physical theatre, dance and voice. Haunting, evocative and dreamlike, this installation performance takes place at the time daylight fades.
Contemplate the twilight immersed in soundscapes and piano compositions and linger with the poignant characters that inhabit the space. This piece alternates excerpts of Ty Jeffries compositions with soundscape design by Echo Sound Design, hypnotizing interventions by contralto opera singer Helen Lewis and physical characterisations by dazzling dancers and physical theatre artists Ana Fernández, Eva Recacha, Bea Triarchis and Rachel Champion.
This unique event invites you to consider the fading light as the main source for the creative impulse. Coachwerks performance studio is a 2000sq ft venue surrounded by skylights with a beautiful decadent, industrial look. The guest artists are using the changes in light and the space as a source of inspiration. As an audience member you may want to witness from a corner, change the direction of your chair or move around the space to capture the instants that most interest you.
